PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Designed by Daniel Burnham and John Root, the Reliance Building opened in 1895 and today is listed among the 100 most historically significant skyscrapers in the world. Mayor Richard M. Daley and the City’s downtown redevelopment team acquired the building
in 1991. McCaffery Interests acquired The Reliance Building from the City and the award-winning renovation transformed one of the most beautiful buildings in the Chicago Loop into the Hotel Burnham – a visually stunning 122-room European-style boutique hotel. Canal Street Partners, L.L.C. hired Target Group to develop a comprehensive economic opportunity strategic plan. This plan consisted of a minority and women-owned business (M/WBE) and EEO utilization plan, which is consistent with the requirements of the City of Chicago’s Department of Planning and Development.
